HafenCity is a quarter in the borough of Hamburg-Mitte being built on an area of 157 hectares on the Elbe river island Grasbrook, on the former Port of Hamburg area. Between the Speicherstadt (Warehouse District) and the Elbe bridges, work, housing, education, culture, leisure, and retail are being combined to create entirely new urban districts. The main landmark of the HafenCity is the Elbphilharmonie concert hall.
