The Brandenburg Gate is a significant Berlin landmark and a symbol of peace and unity. Built between 1788 and 1791, it is Berlin’s only surviving city gate. The gate is 26 meters high and constructed of sandstone in the German Classicist style. Atop the gate is the Quadriga, a statue of Victoria, the goddess of victory, driving a chariot drawn by four horses. Admission to the Brandenburg Gate is free for all visitors.
